What our travelers say
Hotel Europa earns consistent praise from our group leaders for one thing above all else: its position steps from the Puerta del Sol. Being planted at the heart of Madrid's most central square means dinner reservations, major monuments, and evening strolls through the city are all reachable on foot, and that kind of logistical ease matters enormously when you're moving a group of students through a busy itinerary. Multiple leaders across different programs have singled out the location as the single strongest argument for returning, and that consensus is hard to ignore. Beyond the address, the hotel holds up well on the basics. Rooms are consistently described as clean and well-maintained, and several group leaders noted that the rooms feel more generously sized than you'd typically expect from a three-star property in a dense city center — a genuine plus when students are sharing space and luggage. Breakfast earns broadly positive marks, though it's worth noting that the spread can vary: some groups found it excellent, while at least one tour director felt it was a modest step down compared to other stops on the same itinerary. One practical note for departure days: early breakfast arrangements have not always been accommodated, so groups with early morning transfers should confirm meal timing well in advance. Minor maintenance items — a shower fixture here, a coordination hiccup at the front desk there — have surfaced occasionally, though nothing that overshadowed an otherwise smooth stay. Hotel Europa is a reliable fit for student and teacher groups that want to be genuinely immersed in Madrid from the moment they step outside. Its central location reduces transit time and keeps energy high, making it particularly well-suited for programs with packed sightseeing schedules. Groups that prioritize convenience and walkability over resort-style amenities will find it delivers exactly what Madrid demands of a home base.

What group leaders & tour directors say

ExcellentGroup Leader· February 2026· ANFP
The location cannot be beat—right on the Puerta del Sol and within walking distance of dinners, sights, and shops. Breakfast was very good and rooms were clean. A great hotel worth requesting for future tours.
ExcellentGroup Leader· April 2026· OLEP
Great location! Room changes required some effort to coordinate at the front desk. Unfortunately, an early breakfast request on departure day was declined, which meant the group had little time to eat before leaving.
ExcellentGroup Leader· May 2026· YPBS
The location was excellent, and the rooms were very clean with comfortable beds. The showers could use some minor maintenance. Breakfast would shine even more served in the lovely outdoor area available on site.
ExcellentGroup Leader· June 2026· PAMP
The hotel location is fantastic, with cafes, restaurants, and shopping all within easy reach. Rooms and bathrooms are noticeably more spacious than typical city-center options, which the whole group appreciated.
ExcellentGroup Leader· June 2026· IBCS
Great location and very well maintained. A very enjoyable stay overall.
ExcellentGroup Leader· June 2026
Loved this location, right on the square. The breakfast was great, and it would be a top choice for a return visit.

Does the rain in Spain fall Mainly on the Plain?

With its population of nearly 7 million, the Madrid Metro Area is the 3rd largest in Europe. In today’s lecture, we’ll learn about some of the history and geography that gave rise to today’s exciting and surprisingly young Iberian capital.
