17 stories about hotels.
Some of the kids had a view of the Eiffel Tower and they were OVER the MOON about it. The breakfast was much simpler than the London hotel so there was more limited food options, but they didn't seem to complain about it at all.
Our hotel in Sorrento was in a great location for us to be able to walk around and to get to all of our dinners easily. The hotel was clean, check-in was quick and easy, and breakfast was delicious and gave diners lots of options. We especially loved our host for breakfast, Luigi!
What a GORGEOUS hotel. Location was great - the hotel itself was amazing and breakfasts were incredible here. I ALWAYS want to stay here when I'm in Paris now. LOVED this hotel!!!!!!!
Outstanding location!!! It made it very easy for us to take the metro, do some shopping in the local supermarkets, and strategically located near Gare de Lyon for an easy travel to Nice. Also, very friendly/helpful staff and good breakfast.
Beautiful rooms, centrally located. When we were able to check in, my room was not ready, so we had to come back, and when we did, there was a handwritten note and a little snack.
This hotel was AMAZING. Fabulous location and food AND they were flexible to let us in a little early and late for breakfasts and dinner. The beach, the pool, balconies – absolutely keep coming here. Even with some issues, staff were super kind and accommodating and the location and amenities are unbeatable.
This was a beautiful hotel! The piano bar was fun and the kids enjoyed turning it into their own karaoke space. The kids loved the breakfast here, the staff were very friendly and courteous, and I would recommend it to anyone I know traveling to Rome.
This was the best hotel I've stayed at in the last three years of taking students to London. Rooms were larger than typical European rooms, the breakfast was great and hot, and everything was clean and modern.
Absolutely loved this hotel! The rooms were beautiful, the hotel was centrally located and the breakfast room was in the most beautiful atrium that overlooked the whole city of Cannes.
When we entered the hotel in Greece, it felt grand and majestic — it had the wow factor! The staff was instantly welcoming. The Temple of Zeus was right outside some of our windows, and the hotel was within walking distance of the Plaka District and Acropolis Hill. Breakfast on the 7th floor had a panoramic view of Athens — we could see the Parthenon! On the 2nd morning, the sun rose over the hill. It was a dream!
My students and I all really liked Hotel Lancelot. The lobby sitting areas were great for check-ins. Breakfast was perfect with several protein options in addition to tons of breads and pastries. The staff were nothing but welcoming. The Colosseum was literally in viewing distance! The breakfast box on the day we left was appreciated and hearty.
PHENOMINAL location! Still blown away that we stayed IN Avignon. Can't be any closer to Palais des Papes. The hotel was clean. I enjoyed that it felt like we were staying in a castle. Did have a towel warmer in the bathroom. Check-in and out were very easy.
Great location! Walking distance to Metro. The hotel was very clean. Robes & slippers available in the bedroom for guests. Breakfast provided all the basics — great coffee machine, so top-notch cappuccinos in the morning, with a croissant, sliced meat & cheese, yogurt & fruit. The hot eggs and bacon were good, too.
Our experience at the Rome hotel was excellent. Check-in was smooth, efficient, and well-organized for our group, and the staff was consistently friendly and accommodating. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast and dining area were a standout—well-stocked, organized, and a great way to start the day. The location was a major advantage, with close proximity to the Metro. It exceeded expectations in both service and quality. I would gladly stay here again.
The hotel locations were a standout. Being centrally located—especially in Athens—and having immediate access to major landmarks and walkable areas made a huge difference. In Rome, having access to the Metro near the hotel was incredibly valuable. It allowed us to move efficiently and gave students exposure to navigating a real urban transit system.
We LOVED this hotel — location was amazing, it was clean and comfortable, and the breakfast was impressive. One of the parents on tour even commented that they would stay there again on a future visit to Athens. Being able to stay in the city in a hotel that we looked forward to coming back to makes such a difference in the experience overall.
Absolutely wonderful and accommodating staff. The last morning, we expected just a cold breakfast, but the staff still put out many of the warm, fresh items, such as pastries, croissants, and crepes (at 3am). I was blown away at the careful efforts and kindness of that team.
Authentic, local, three-course.
21 stories about meals.
Thank you for the beach front dinner. The location was amazing. We were able to see the light of the full moon reflecting on the Mediterranean while we had dinner. We had an amazing menu and excellent service. Passports definitely saved the best for last. Thank you!
Unbelievable tapas — the fried eggplant was the best eggplant I've ever had, and everyone agreed!
Les Noces de Jeannette is always a tried and true classic. The duck was fantastic, and we had our own room upstairs, which afforded us some privacy to exchange speeches and experiences on our last night.
All of the food was amazing and one of the participants said that the meatballs were second only to her mom's. The fruit tart earned high praise from everyone as well.
The restaurant was conveniently located and clean, and the wait staff was attentive and friendly. Our starter — candele alla genovese — was perhaps the best dish we ate the entire trip, and the veal and tiramisu were delicious as well.
Excellent dinner - all galettes and crepes were enjoyed by all - it truly was an exquisite French dining experience. And, a very neat space with very attentive staff. Yum!!!
This meal was superb. The first course alone could have stood on its own. The ravioli was great, but the rigatoni with white meat sauce from Pegazzano was out of this world. I was tempted to ditch the main course and just order more of this.
The Zafiro was an experience from the food, to the entertainment, the dancing and music! I loved the Buffet style so we could pick and choose what we wanted to eat and not waste anything. The kids really enjoyed this evening — they loved that they got to participate in the dancing, sweeping and plate throwing. The sunset view from the restaurant was spectacular.
The food was absolutely amazing. It was a family run restaurant and it blew us all away. The staff was on top of it and I can't say enough about it — none of us could believe this was part of a group tour because it was so nice. I would go back there if I were visiting again.
Restaurant was near our hotel and easily accessible. Staff were incredible, especially our server, John! Food quality was excellent and authentic, tapas and Paella. Every traveler loved the restaurant, the staff, and the dinner. Very relevant culturally.
What an amazing surprise!! This restaurant might have had our favorite meal of the whole week! I would put it tied with la Bonne Franquette. The service was fast and professional. The meal was tasty and filling. The desserts were a work of art. We were put on the 2nd floor with a beautiful view of Cannes!
This was one of our top favorites! The atmosphere is divine! It was a pleasure to have dinner with David Markle. He is so friendly and fun to talk to. The escargot was a bonding experience, and the piano player added a level of excitement to the evening — he made the whole evening sparkly. Many students would want to come back on a Passports trip just for this dinner!
This meal was superb across the board! The ambience of the space was spectacular. The pasta starter was so tasty. The chicken and potatoes were really good — these potatoes were more like freshly baked potato chips. I could have eaten several of the raspberry panna cotta desserts. My students were satisfied!
Some of our students were sick the night before and didn't feel like eating much — the head server brought them a traditional Italian dish that they make for their family members when they are sick. He really went above and beyond! He gave our students a really fun, memorable experience.
This was a cool joint. Lots of locals were eating here. So much food we couldn't finish all of it. They read the room and didn't even bring out the squid. Best hummus, 10 out of 10!
This was just beautiful. We had a perfect table outside under the twinkling lights. The food was outstanding - best calamari I've ever had. Everyone enjoyed the experience.
This was perhaps the best meal of the trip. We had the place to ourselves, and the host was so friendly and gracious. She managed to cook steak to order for a group of 20, the frites were perfection, and the apple tart was to die for. It felt personal and authentic. The group was unanimously impressed.
This restaurant had the food that ALL of the group loved. From the salad with tortilla española and the pork tenderloin with potatoes, what more could you want? OH — and the dessert was amazing! The location was good and our spots were cozy. The waiters were very attentive and kind. A HIT of a night!
This restaurant was fantastic as well. Great service, wonderful tapas. The bread with the tomatos, the bruchetta, the mushroom and cheese dish, the croquettes were all so good. They followed up with seafood dishes as well. The ice cream was delicious.
Love Terme Del Colosseo! This feels like a fancy experience for students with attentive staff, soda on the tables and beautifully served food! The portions felt small compared to 2 years ago but everything was hot, delicious and culturally new!
Can anyone say MEAT TRAY? Wow. This was a nice place with a great staff — second best place we ate at (but a few of the students would fight over this one being first choice). We had a great first course with lots of grilled items. Then it came to the table...trays and trays of meat! Delicious variety! We laughed a lot when we found out the name (Tsi-Tsi) is baby talk for "meat meat."
Twenty years' experience, gate to gate.
19 stories about tour directors.
Larry Alexander — the very best. He made our trip the wonderful experience that it was. He is flexible and he takes care of us. I cannot imagine a tour without him. He is an asset to Passports. His knowledge and expertise is truly amazing.
Sara was fabulous and worked diligently to inform the students on the historical sites, keep everyone safe, and facilitate all travel so it could be as seamless as possible.
Everything went so smoothly while we were on tour from the moment we met up with Guido in Naples to when he left us in Rome.
Our bus driver was amazing — friendly, funny, and cool as a cucumber any time another driver would make an unexpected turn into our lane. The students thought he looked like the rapper Pitbull and he graciously let them call him "Mr. Worldwide".
Ezio is the premier tour guide. It was our second time with him and he made the experience wonderful for all participants and chaperones.
Hermanos was an exceptional tour director—professional, kind, and genuinely friendly, with a flexible approach that made the entire experience smooth and enjoyable.
Paulo was great. He was intentional to get to know the students and helpful to direct them to their interests. He knew beach time was super important to them and worked with our driver to get us from the Alhambra to the Yaramar quicker than anticipated. He also responded quickly to our cancelled ferry, Flamenco dinner issues, and some concerns at Versailles. He is a top tour guide that given the option we'd love to be matched with again.
Olivier was really good, and that makes a huge difference on a tour. I would only want him again if I were to lead another tour.
Kevin Bello and Gianni Tramparulo, the tour guide from Pompeii and Herculaneum, were amazing. The kids and chaperones both spoke very highly of them, and have spoken directly about the two of them in recalling the trip to others back here at home.
Guides like Maria made a huge impact on the kids, truly. If we can find more like her, it would be amazing. Tour Directors like Larry who know history and are capable of creating links between the places we go make all the difference.
Alejandro was an amazing driver and kept the bus extremely clean. He was always on time and made sure we had fresh cold water whenever we needed it. He was such a careful and competent driver and I felt safe the entire time despite some tricky roads. I really appreciated his sense of humor and professionalism.
Raphael made this tour amazing. I would love for him to be our tour guide every time we travel! He was so flexible and made sure all four of the school groups were able to do what they wanted. He's very organized and efficient. He's great with the teenagers. They really loved him and all hugged him goodbye.
Our tour guide Raphaël Frémont was the absolute best tour guide I've ever had. He was so personable, got to know all of the kids, did an excellent job getting us around without taking unnecessary detours, and was a very good communicator.
Our group this year wanted a bit more free time, and Tony accommodated us in every way. We managed to squeeze in a lot without feeling overwhelmed.
Laura was an awesome tour guide on the ground in Spain. When I was injured, she connected with the president of the company to offer support — a pretty amazing "human touch" while we were abroad.
I want to take a last moment to reiterate just how great our guide, Raphael Fremont, was. One of my students made a point to say that she missed him and thought he did such a great job for us. They all noticed his accommodating nature, not just for the group, but for the individual.
It was Andrew who was the most help when we were stuck. He told us what website to go to for compensation, and he guided us through that entire ordeal — and he was not even with us at the time. However, he was extremely concerned about all of us.
I felt supported by Georgina the entire trip. I really appreciated that when Georgina was trying to decide something she would always seek me out and ask what I wanted to do. I know that isn't always easy — especially when you have other adults in the group who might be trying to suggest something different.
We loved Janica. Both her skill and personality really did contribute to making the tour great. She was a pleasure to work with.
One person, start to finish.
26 stories about customer service.
Erin rocks our socks off and is very responsive - and a shoutout to Hilary who always was quick to get back to us for issues regarding logistics or the app
Dale Davies — always available and eager to help in any way she can. Thank you, Dale, for getting us home after our flight was delayed in Nice.
Special praise to Michael and Dale for their quick communication before, during and after the trip. I felt supported throughout the process. Thank you so much!
I truly appreciate everything that Kris did to help us get this trip off the ground. We had so many bumps in the road on our side of things and she did everything she could to smooth them out.
Sara and Dale do work hard and are very responsive.
Katy and Hilary were amazing. They were so kind, so helpful, so sincere in their hopes that the tour was everything that we wanted it to be.
We loved meeting and having dinner with David while we were in Paris! We felt a little special and had a great time with him.
Kris was so fabulous! She was patient with me as this was my first time leading a trip and I definitely had some late changes/additions. She was great about communicating and I felt like she delivered what was promised.
Katy and Hilary were absolutely outstanding—professional, thoughtful, and incredibly accommodating throughout the entire process. Planning this trip with them was a true pleasure; they were attentive, responsive, and full of wonderful ideas. Katy's recommendation of the light and sound show in Blois was a true highlight of the experience—unforgettable.
Both Sara and Dale were wonderful in helping to put everything together.
Michael and Dale have been extremely wonderful to work with. I was always surprised at how accommodating they were, even when there were issues that were my fault.
Shout out to Kris for helping to make the Passport experience so easy for a THIRD YEAR in a row. She is always helpful, friendly, and prompt.
I would like to extend a special praise to David Markle for his attention to a crisis on tour. His actions demonstrated a hands-on approach to the customer experience. More importantly, David's affection and care for the well-being of his employee was palpable and moving. I walked away thinking that I would love to work for a company like Passports!
Katy was exceptional in every step of the planning process. She answered any question I had so promptly, and if she didn't have the answer, she found the person to help me quickly.
As always, Kris is so kind, caring, efficient and responds quickly. She texted me through a 4 hour delay that ended up giving us 2 minutes to make our connecting flight. She also picked up the phone and had a talk with me when I was concerned about some issues while on tour. She is amazing!
I really appreciate how much Kris was willing to work with me and customize our trip to suit our needs. I also really like how she checked in on us a few times during the trip to make sure everything was going well. That meant a lot.
Kris — amazing customer service and attention to details. Worked with us to make this trip happen despite having a smaller group.
Hillary did such a great job helping me with itinerary and operations questions! I also appreciated Sara, who took our trip on and did a wonderful job communicating with me before and during the tour!
Katy Hemenway, Hilary Rose — and honestly, the president of the company, Dave. He met with our group for dinner and also went on the boat cruise with us in Paris. He had genuine conversations with people. I was extremely impressed with that.
Everyone at Passports was incredible but Kris Weinand was especially amazing. This was my first time ever taking students on a trip abroad and she was so patient, kind, and helpful. She did an amazing job with the itinerary and never felt pushy. She was also extremely responsive and very fast so I never felt like I was left hanging.
Michael was informative, helpful, and straightforward from the beginning. I had completed two tours with another company where I did not always feel heard. I felt Michael listened and was always responsive. He was honest about whether or not something was a possibility and helped provide alternatives.
I mentioned to Dale about the desire to have easier access to tour participant payment and passport information on the website. That update was made within 1-2 days!
Hilary did an excellent job helping shape an itinerary that balanced structure with flexibility. The combination of key historical sites with intentional free time—especially in the afternoons and evenings—was exactly what I was hoping for. It gave students the opportunity to explore, make discoveries, and engage with the cities in a more personal way rather than feeling over-programmed.
I want to specifically recognize Katy and Hilary for the quality of the planning experience. Katy set the tone early—her responsiveness, professionalism, and consistent follow-up made the entire process feel organized and low-stress. She was always prompt, clear, and proactive in communication, which built a high level of trust from the beginning.
During the trip, we encountered a minor issue with a student's last name being misidentified, and Dale was prompt, professional, and solution-oriented in helping us resolve it quickly. Her ability to remain calm, responsive, and supportive in those moments made a significant difference and reinforced the strength of the Passports support system.
Kris has been my coordinator for two trips now, and she is fantastic! She answers emails in record time.
The whole trip, top to bottom.
26 stories about overall experience.
Great tour! We loved being in only 2 hotels and we were able to move at our own pace. One of our best tours ever.
Despite the fact that my school approved the trip late, Passports was able to put together an amazing trip with great activities, a fantastic chaperone.
What a great trip, put together with short notice. Great job Passports.
This was my first time leading a trip so I had a lot of uncertainty heading into it, but Passports really took care of everything and made things so much easier.
I will continue to use Passports! Loved every minute of the tour!
Truly, we did SO much during this trip — it was great and exhausting! You guys did a great job!
I have always appreciated how flexible we are able to be on Passports tours. This is one of the main reasons I have decided to continue traveling with the company. Thank you for another great trip!
All major aspects of the experience met or exceeded expectations with Passports. The flight schedule, itinerary, hotel locations and quality, bus transportation, and meals were all excellent, with strong cultural relevance throughout.
I would not change a single thing about this tour or the people we worked with. I wish I could do it all over again. Students were saying it was the best trip they have ever had and did not want to leave. I could not thank everyone enough. THANK YOU!!!!!
Truly, this was a trip of dreams. The company worked with me to specialize a few things. The balance of planned activities and free time was PERFECTLY balanced.
I can not say enough about the excellent staff at Passports! They made organizing and executing this trip a breeze! It was so well organized and accommodating — I would totally recommend Passports as the tour company for student travel.
Everything I would want in a tour company.
This was a great tour and overall the experiences were amazing.
The hotels, restaurants, bus driver, and local guides were all truly amazing. The itinerary was phenomenal. Appropriate time frames for every activity. There was a great balance between structured activities and free time. The students had such an enjoyable experience!
I think my tour went perfectly! Each day was packed with educational opportunities and we saved free time for the end in Cannes. My students are coming home with confidence about their French skills as well as their travel skills.
This was my 16th tour overall, and Passports is still the one who I strongly believe in. Without a doubt, I would never use a different company.
Compared to stories I have heard about other companies, this was an absolutely incredible experience. I have nothing to add to make the experience better as the entire experience, from pre-planning to post-trip, was incredible. I will never use another company and will highly recommend Passports for everyone.
I have been recommending Passports to everyone after my experience.
Overall, this was a wonderful tour. The kids had a lot of fun and learned a lot. Passports was a great company to work with, and we got everything that was promised, and then some.
Passports, I cannot begin to thank you enough for helping craft such a spectacular tour! Being a theatre educator, having some arts experiences was important to me — and you delivered. My students and I were talking about the workshop for days! Josephine and the Mouse Singer at the Greek National Opera House was unlike anything my students or I had experienced before.
This whole tour was amazing. This is the best company we have toured with and will be using again.
This was an outstanding tour experience from start to finish. The trip flowed extremely well, with strong attention to detail at every stage. Even when minor issues arose, they were addressed quickly and professionally, which reinforced confidence in the Passports team. I am very much looking forward to my next trip with Passports and would confidently recommend them to any educator.
We had a FANTASTIC experience with Passports this year! From the beginning, in the planning stages, the difference between Passports and EF was clear, and that difference bore out over the course of the trip. We are so thankful we found you guys and really felt that the whole experience was better than what we've had with EF.
When we switched to Passports from our previous travel company, we wanted two things: better food and less time on the bus. Passports exceeded our expectations! We loved having hotels where we could walk and didn't have to get on a bus. Even riding the subway in London was a fun experience!
This was a great trip — we felt like we were listened to, and the kids had a great time.
Overall the tour was great, and we will be using Passports again in the future. We feel like it was tailored to what we wanted.
