What our travelers say
The Meliá Costa del Sol has earned something of a reputation among Passports groups as a property that tends to steal the show — often at the very end of a trip, when everyone is road-weary and ready to be wowed. Sitting directly on Bajondillo Beach in Torremolinos, the hotel puts the Mediterranean front and center: group leaders consistently note that the sea views from the rooms are immediate and genuine, not a distant glimmer from a high floor. The rooms themselves are spacious and bright, which makes a real difference when students have been cramped into smaller city-center hotels for days prior. Check-in has run smoothly across multiple groups, and cleanliness is mentioned so consistently it stands out as a genuine point of pride for the property's staff. The dining experience draws particular praise. Both the breakfast and dinner buffets are described by group leaders as generous, varied, and far above the standard fare you might expect at a large beach hotel. The atmosphere across the property — pool, beach access, well-kept common spaces — tends to produce the kind of group energy that makes a farewell night actually feel like a celebration rather than an afterthought. One group leader did flag that noise from a gathering outside the rooms disturbed the group on one evening, so lighter sleepers may want to request rooms positioned away from common outdoor areas. It is worth keeping in mind that this is a popular resort-style property on the Costa del Sol, and the surrounding beachfront promenade has its own lively rhythm, especially in warmer months. This hotel is best suited to groups looking for a rewarding final stop on a Spain itinerary — the kind of place that earns goodwill from students and chaperones alike. It works particularly well as a coastal bookend to a city-heavy program, giving groups a genuine beach experience without sacrificing comfort or logistics. Tour directors across a range of program sizes have called it a consistent group favorite, and the feedback year over year is about as uniform as it gets: nearly every group leaves wishing they had stayed one more night.

What group leaders & tour directors say

ExcellentGroup Leader· July 2025· ZAAS
Right on the beach with sea views from every room! Check-in was seamless, facilities spotless, and the location makes the town easily accessible. The dinner and breakfast buffets were enormous and outstanding — easily among the best buffet meals on tour. Only downside: just one night!
