What our travelers say
The Grand Hotel Flora has become one of those properties that group leaders ask to return to — and it's easy to see why. Sitting right on Corso Italia in the heart of Sorrento, the hotel puts travelers within easy walking distance of the town's pedestrian shopping streets, making post-dinner strolls effortless. That central position earns consistent praise across nearly every evaluation we've collected, often cited as a highlight of the entire tour. The recently completed renovations have freshened the rooms and relocated the breakfast room to the ground floor, and the updates are noticeable — group leaders who have visited multiple times describe the property as genuinely improved rather than simply maintained. Breakfast is a recurring talking point, and for good reason. Tour directors describe a spread that goes well beyond the typical continental offering — eggs, fresh fruit, cakes, and a range of international options — and at least one group enjoyed the added bonus of panoramic rooftop views while eating. The pool is clean, well-kept, and drew enthusiastic feedback from summer groups looking for a midday reset. Common areas are spacious enough that a group can spread out comfortably, which matters more than it sounds after a long day of sightseeing. Staff responsiveness also stands out: when a pair of rooms arrived with minor maintenance issues on one visit, the front desk resolved everything quickly and without fuss — exactly the kind of reliability that tour directors depend on. The Grand Hotel Flora is a strong fit for school and student groups traveling through southern Italy, particularly those spending time on the Amalfi Coast or using Sorrento as a hub. It handles volume well, and the combination of a central location, solid breakfast, and genuinely helpful staff takes a lot of logistical pressure off group leaders. Groups looking for a polished but unfussy base in one of Italy's most visited resort towns will feel well taken care of here.
