What our travelers say
Hotel Isartor earns consistent praise from the group leaders and tour directors who bring their travelers here, and the location is usually the first thing they mention. Sitting close to the Isar canal and within easy reach of Marienplatz, it puts groups at the center of Munich without the chaos of a purely tourist-facing address. Several evaluators pointed to covered walkways that kept groups dry on rainy evenings — a small detail that matters enormously when you're herding twenty students through a wet German spring. The property has also added a newer wing with updated rooms, which has quietly raised the overall standard of the stay. Breakfast is a genuine strength here, drawing positive remarks across multiple visits — a proper spread that sets groups up for full days of sightseeing. That said, a few evaluators noted that the selection, while good, can feel a little narrower than what you'd find at comparable properties, so it's worth calibrating expectations accordingly. Room comfort and cleanliness get high marks, and the air conditioning is generally easy to manage — though at least one group encountered units that needed attention and found follow-up with staff slower than ideal. The lobby is compact, which means it's not the place to gather a large group for announcements or evening debriefs; leaders who plan ahead and use a nearby common space or dining room will fare better. Overall, Hotel Isartor is a reliable, well-situated three-star option that works particularly well for mid-size student and teacher groups who want walkable access to Munich's historic center without paying four-star prices. Groups that prize location and a solid breakfast over expansive common spaces will find it a very sensible fit.

Fantastic location, and breakfast remains rich and varied. The property now features a new section with modern rooms, making it an even stronger choice overall.
ExcellentGroup Leader· June 2024· ZAWS
An outstanding Munich location with spacious, very clean rooms and easy check-in. The air conditioning was simple to adjust for all comfort levels. Breakfast was good, though the food assortment was not quite as impressive as other destinations. Highly recommended!
ExcellentGroup Leader· March 2023· YAW
Great location near the canal and Marienplatz. Covered walkways kept the group dry on rainy evenings. A private breakfast room and evening card-playing space were provided. Terrific hotel overall.
ExcellentTour Director· March 2023· PAAP
A very nice hotel in a good location. The breakfast was excellent and the customer service was welcoming. Highly recommended.
GoodGroup Leader· June 2025· XJHS
Great location, though the small lobby made group gatherings and announcements challenging. Some rooms had persistent AC issues, and limited staff availability on day two made resolving them difficult. Breakfast was good quality but offered a smaller selection than comparable hotels.
