What our travelers say
The NH Collection Heidelberg has earned a strong reputation among our group leaders and tour directors, and it's not hard to see why. The hotel's blend of historic architecture and contemporary interior design makes an impression the moment you step into the lobby, which multiple visitors have singled out as genuinely striking. Rooms are consistently described as spacious and modern — a real advantage when students and chaperones are sharing triples and doubles after long days on the road. Breakfast has drawn particular praise, with tour directors calling it exceptional both in quality and variety. Practical details matter for group travel, and this property gets them right: rear bus parking makes arrivals and departures smooth, and on at least one occasion when an air conditioning issue came up, the staff resolved it promptly — the kind of responsiveness that group leaders notice and appreciate. One tour director went so far as to call it the best hotel they'd experienced in all of Heidelberg. A note on expectations worth sharing: the NH Collection sits on Bergheimer Strasse, which puts it at some distance from the old town, the castle, and the main pedestrian zone. Groups coming here should plan on using transport to reach Heidelberg's most iconic sites rather than assuming a walkable evening stroll. That said, one group leader noted that for groups closer to the old town, the tradeoff still lands in the hotel's favor given the overall quality. The property's size is also a genuine asset — a large luggage storage room was made available before check-in on at least one visit, and the layout, with separate elevator banks for student and adult rooms, gives group leaders a logistical structure that's hard to find elsewhere. This hotel suits mid-to-large school groups particularly well. The room scale, the organized layout, the reliable breakfast, and the attentive staff all point toward a property that has clearly hosted student tours before and knows what they need. For groups prioritizing comfort, space, and smooth operations over a doorstep location, this is a dependable choice in Heidelberg.

What group leaders & tour directors say

ExcellentTour Director· June 2023· YVNS
By far the best hotel experienced in Heidelberg. A perfect base with everything in walking distance to the old town. A convincing mix of historic and modern architecture, friendly staff, and spacious rooms — truly the place to stay.
ExcellentGroup Leader· June 2023· YVNS
Rooms, bathrooms, lobby, bar, and breakfast area were all exceptional. A reported AC issue was quickly resolved. The location requires transport rather than walking, but this remains a group favorite and is highly recommended.
ExcellentGroup Leader· May 2023· YDNS
Huge and modern, with spectacular rooms and an outstanding breakfast. Staff kindly provided a large storage room before check-in. Note: triple and double rooms are on opposite sides with separate elevators. The hotel is a solid walk from Heidelberg's city center, but being located in the city rather than on the outskirts was a real highlight.
ExcellentTour Director· May 2023· YDNS
The lobby is stunning, parking for the bus is conveniently accessible from the rear, and the breakfast is incredible. Rooms are spacious and modern. The location is not close to the old town or restaurants, but every other aspect impresses.
