What our travelers say
The Hotel Atlanta Augustus wins over group leaders almost immediately — not despite its Lido address, but because of it. Several leaders admitted arriving with mild skepticism about staying on the island rather than in Venice proper, only to find the concern evaporated within hours. The neighborhood is quiet and genuinely charming, with restaurants, bars, and shops within easy walking distance, and the water-bus connection to central Venice keeps day trips smooth and stress-free. The hotel's position near a canal and the ferry stops means groups spend less time navigating and more time exploring. The building itself carries a warmth that chain hotels rarely manage: original architectural details, individually decorated rooms, a flower-filled courtyard, and those famously oversized antique keys that seem to delight every group that passes through. The panoramic terrace and top-floor rooms with large balconies and lagoon views are a particular highlight, and more than one group leader has singled out the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms. The lobby, meeting space, and communal areas consistently draw praise as well. A few things are worth setting expectations around. Breakfast earns genuinely mixed reviews — some groups find it homey and satisfying, others feel the variety falls a little short; it is a continental-style spread rather than a full hot buffet. A couple of groups have noted that breakfast service starts later in the morning, which can create scheduling pressure if your itinerary requires an early departure — worth flagging to the hotel in advance. Air conditioning reliability has come up occasionally as well, with at least one group experiencing inconsistent performance during a warm-weather stay. Overall, the Atlanta Augustus is a strong fit for school and student groups that value character and neighborhood feel over cookie-cutter hotel amenities. The Lido setting genuinely adds to the experience — beach access, lagoon views, and a slower pace at the end of busy touring days — making it particularly well-suited to programs that want Venice to feel like more than just a backdrop. Groups that need very early starts or are sensitive to breakfast variety may want to plan accordingly, but for most travelers, this hotel leaves a lasting impression that goes well beyond its three-star rating.

ExcellentTour Director· April 2025· ZAF
Centrally located in Lido, with helpful staff and a nice breakfast.
ExcellentGroup Leader· June 2025· XJN
The top-floor rooms feature large balconies, and the location on Lido island — with beach and lagoon access — was a standout. Rooms were clean and comfortable with the best air conditioning. Additional towel bars and bathroom storage would be a welcome improvement.
ExcellentTour Director· June 2025· ROHP
The location is perfect and the staff are very helpful. Breakfast is average, and the air conditioning did not work properly during our stay.
ExcellentGroup Leader· April 2025· XAW
The oversized antique keys are a charming quirk. The breakfast area, lobby, courtyard, and meeting space are all lovely, and the town location is ideal. A wonderful hotel overall.
ExcellentGroup Leader· May 2025· XETS
A wonderful hotel in a quiet, charming neighborhood on the Lido. Initial concerns about staying outside Venice proved unfounded. Breakfast was the one area that fell slightly short, but overall a fantastic stay.
