What our travelers say
Hotel Grauer Bär earns its four-star standing in Innsbruck on the strength of two things that matter most to traveling school groups: a central location that makes the city walkable from the moment you arrive, and a breakfast spread that group leaders and tour directors consistently single out as one of the best they've encountered on tour. The property sits on Universitätsstraße, putting Alpine museums, the old town, and public transit all within easy reach — something our travelers appreciate when every hour of an itinerary counts. The lobby is spacious enough to gather a group without the usual bottleneck, and the staff come up reliably in evaluations as friendly and accommodating. The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable, with a modern finish that reflects a recent restoration. Beyond the standard hotel amenities, the rooftop pool and hot tub on the fifth floor have become a genuine talking point — more than one group has wished their Innsbruck stop were a night longer just to take fuller advantage of them. Dinner options at the property also draw praise, making it easy for groups to eat well on-site after a long day of sightseeing rather than hunting for a restaurant that can seat twenty or thirty people. One tour director called it the best hotel of the trip, which, given the competition across a multi-country itinerary, is worth noting. Hotel Grauer Bär is a strong fit for student and teacher groups that want a polished, well-positioned base in Innsbruck without sacrificing comfort for cost. It works especially well as part of an Alpine or Central European itinerary where Innsbruck is a one- or two-night stop — the location and amenities justify the stay even when the schedule is tight. Groups that arrive with a little downtime built in will find the pool and common spaces reward the extra hours.
