What our travelers say
Hotel de la Paix earns consistent praise from the group leaders and tour directors who bring their travelers through Lausanne, and it isn't hard to see why. The staff earns particular recognition across multiple visits — described as genuinely attentive and detail-oriented in a way that makes a real difference when you're wrangling a school group through a busy itinerary. Rooms are spacious and well-kept, the showers reliably strong (a small thing that matters after a long day on foot), and the overall atmosphere carries the kind of quiet polish you'd expect from a four-star property that takes its reputation seriously. The breakfast room is a genuine highlight: a private dining space with a balcony overlooking Lake Geneva, where the spread runs wide enough to satisfy even the most discerning student travelers. One tour director did note that breakfast variety has occasionally felt slightly thin, so it's worth setting expectations accordingly — but on balance, the morning meal here is one of the more talked-about features of the stay. A word on the setting: Lausanne is a hilly city by nature, and the hotel's position reflects that. Returning on foot after a full day of sightseeing involves a climb, which some groups find tiring. That said, the elevated location is exactly what delivers those lake views, and most travelers agree the trade-off is more than worth it. One minor practical note from a tour director: air conditioning in some rooms can be inconsistent during warmer months, so groups traveling in summer should come prepared. This property is a strong fit for school and student groups looking for a comfortable, characterful base in one of Switzerland's most walkable cities. The private breakfast setup works especially well for groups that want their own space in the morning, and the overall standard of comfort — spacious rooms, engaged staff, memorable views — makes it a natural choice for programs where the hotel experience is meant to feel like part of the trip, not just a place to sleep.

Located on a hill, so returning on foot can be tiring, but that is simply the nature of Lausanne. The views were amazing, and breakfast offered a wonderful variety of food and drink options.
