What our travelers say
The Royal Olympic Hotel earns its reputation on location and atmosphere alone, but it delivers on both fronts with real consistency. Group leaders returning from multiple programs describe arriving to a grand, welcoming lobby that immediately impresses student travelers — the kind of first impression that sets the tone for a whole trip. What keeps the feedback so uniformly strong, though, is what lies just outside the front door: the Temple of Zeus is visible from select rooms, the Plaka District and Acropolis Hill are within easy walking distance, and the surrounding neighborhood keeps groups well-connected whether they're on foot or loading buses. Tour directors note it handles large group logistics smoothly, from late-night check-ins to coordinating early breakfast departures without a hitch. The seventh-floor breakfast room is a genuine highlight. Group leaders consistently mention the panoramic views of Athens — on clear mornings, the Parthenon is visible from the table — and the variety of the spread earns praise for accommodating groups with diverse tastes and early start times. The rooftop terrace offers similar views but requires a purchase to access, so it's worth factoring into expectations. On the room side, travelers describe the spaces as clean and functional, though the décor leans toward an older style and electrical outlets are limited — students often need to get creative when charging devices. Temperature regulation has also been flagged, with some guests finding rooms on the warmer side, particularly in spring. Beds in twin configurations can be closely spaced. None of these are deal-breakers, but they're worth knowing going in. The Royal Olympic is a strong fit for mid-to-large school groups that benefit from a central, walkable base with genuine visual connections to ancient Athens. The scale of the property means it absorbs big groups without feeling chaotic, and the staff's experience with group travel shows in the details — smooth logistics, accommodating service, and the occasional thoughtful gesture toward group leaders that builds real goodwill. Groups focused on Greek history and culture will find the surroundings do as much teaching as any museum visit.

A great hotel with a stunning location.
ExcellentGroup Leader· March 2026· YMH
The grand, majestic lobby left the group in awe, and the staff was instantly welcoming. The Temple of Zeus was visible from select rooms, with the Plaka District and Acropolis Hill within walking distance. The 7th-floor breakfast offered panoramic views of Athens, including the Parthenon, and on the second morning the sunrise over the hill was breathtaking. Exceptional variety ensured everyone found plenty to enjoy.
ExcellentGroup Leader· March 2026· CLAE
Check-in was smooth for a late-night arrival, and the staff remained consistently helpful throughout. The rooftop dining area was a highlight, offering excellent views and a generous breakfast. Rooms are somewhat dated with limited outlets but are clean and functional. The central location and welcoming atmosphere made this a great fit.
ExcellentGroup Leader· April 2026· GREP
The hotel was beautiful with clean, decent-sized rooms. Temperature control was an issue, as many guests found the rooms too warm. Beds were separate but closely positioned. Breakfast was great and accommodated early departures well.
ExcellentTour Director· March 2026· CLAD
Groups consistently love this hotel, and it is easy to see why.
ExcellentTour Director· April 2026· CLAP
The location is unbeatable. As a large hotel that regularly hosts congresses and groups, it offers spacious rooms and a good breakfast.
