The distance is 250 km (156 miles), all the way on the A92 (N342). It takes 3.5 to 4 hours. You pass very little of built interest en route, though there is some spectacular mountain scenery and the usual Andalucian trademark of an ocean of olive trees.

This is an ideal time to play a little Spanish music on the coach, or to delve into the difficult but very important subject of the Moorish occupation of Spain and the Christian Reconquest.

If you are doing this drive on the way to the Costa del Sol, stopping in Granada en route to see the Alhambra, the last (and most attractive) section — from the Antequera junction to Granada — will be repeated on the way out.
