10 Pre-Departure Reminders for Students Traveling to Europe This Spring

An experienced group organizer provides excellent reminders
to students about to embark on their 2014 passports tour!

  1. Have you notified your bank you’ll be using your debit or credit card in England and France? Should they increase your daily cash limit?
  2. If your card is brand-new: have you used your card at an ATM yet? You have to activate it here in order for it to work there.
  3. Do you have a money/passport pouch yet? Make sure you wear the kind that goes around your neck, and under your clothing. Do not carry a waist pouch for your money and passport, and don’t put it in your purse, backpack or other shoulder bag. Carry it with you at all times.
  4. You will need both sunscreen and rain gear; including a long-sleeved jacket or heavy sweatshirt.
  5. If you decide to bring your phone you need to contact your provider today. It takes a while to set up global Travel Phone Plans.
  6. Does your camera need long-term/ special batteries?
  7. Do you have a charger? Converter & European plugs?
  8. Do I, and passports, have a record of your medications? Remember to keep them in your carry-on bag, do not put medications in a checked bag.
  9. Do you have any special dietary restrictions, such as vegetarianism, allergies, or foods you can’t eat?
  10. Where is your passport? Is it valid for at least 6 months after your return from the tour?
