An Update on the Situation in Paris

Second Update: April 27, 2023

Hello there - David Markle, President of Passports, here. We have just wrapped up our spring tour season, and we're excitedly preparing for our summer tours that will commence in just over a month. I want to readdress the recent political unrest in Paris and reiterate our unwavering commitment to ensuring a safe and enjoyable trip for all of our groups.

For the past three months, we have operated tours in Paris, and I have been in Paris personally assessing the situation and its impact on our tours. While the city has experienced some strikes and protests, I can confidently report that the inconveniences to our tours have been minimal.

The sporadic operation of the RER primarily inconvenienced some of the groups visiting Versailles. We promptly shifted to using the metro, which has not been a disruption for our tours. The protests have led to the closure of a few metro stops during evening hours, but we have adjusted our tour schedules accordingly. Having been in the vicinity of the protests, I can confirm that they have been swiftly dispersed, leaving no lasting disruptions.

At Passports, our utmost priority is the safety and well-being of our travelers. We are continuously monitoring the situation and stand ready to implement any necessary adjustments to ensure a smooth and delightful experience for all of our groups. Our Tour Directors and local partners are fully equipped to manage any unforeseen challenges that may arise.

As always, please feel free to share this letter with your group members and their families, and do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. We are dedicated to providing exceptional customer service and addressing any concerns you may have.

Thank you for choosing Passports Educational Travel. We are eager and excited to continue providing you with enriching, engaging, and memorable travel experiences.

Sincerely,

David Markle

First Update: April 10, 2023

Hello there - Dave Markle, President of Passports, here. I wanted to take a moment to address the recent political unrest in Paris and assure you of our commitment to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for our travelers.

Over the past two weeks, I have been in Paris personally assessing the situation and its impact on our tours. While the city has experienced some strikes, affecting the operation of the RER and garbage collection, as well as a few protests, I can confidently say that the inconveniences to our tours have been minor.

The sporadic operation of the RER has mainly impacted groups visiting Versailles. Instead of taking the RER, our groups are now taking the metro. This change may add a bit of extra travel time, but it has not significantly disrupted our tours. As for the garbage on the streets, it is an unfortunate sight but does not impact the operation of our tours.

The protests have resulted in the closure of a few metro stops on line 1 in the evening hours, but this should not affect our groups as they typically use this line well before dinner. Furthermore, the restaurants we use are not located in this area. I have been in the vicinity of the protests and can attest that they have been dispersed quickly, leaving no signs of disruption.

At Passports, the safety and well-being of our travelers is our top priority. We are closely monitoring the situation in Paris and are prepared to make any necessary adjustments to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for our groups. Rest assured, our Tour Directors and local partners are well-equipped to handle any unforeseen challenges that may arise.

Please feel free to share this letter with your group members and their families, and do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or concerns. We are committed to providing exceptional customer service and addressing any concerns you may have.

Thank you for choosing Passports Educational Travel. We look forward to continuing to provide you with enriching and memorable travel experiences.
