Overnight Train from Paris to Italy

We are interested in how the overnight train from Paris to Italy is for those of us who might be a little claustrophobic. I am told that there are 6 people per car. What are the sleeping arrangements in each car - three berths on each side? What about space for luggage? Thanks, Paula
