Basel is located 50 min. by train from Lucerne on the border to Germany AND France on the river Rhine, much cheaper than Lucerne, with 38 museums (Picasso, modern Art, historical) and over 200 restaurants. Most people speak fluently english and all americans are most welcome to this town, which has traditionally close relations to Boston / Mass.
