: I am planning on going to Athens in late September. We are scheduled for a 4 day cruise and will have about 4 days free time prior to this. We are interested in bus tours. Are the buses non smoking? Any suggestions on day trips out of Athens where we will be based? Please respond to my e-mail address. Hapi@ibm.com

Hi Anne!

Great time to visit Athens and the Islands!

For some suggestions for coach tours while in Athens, go back into the
Passports Web Site

http://www.passports.com

and go into Pick-A-Trip. Click on Greece. Review the various itineraries
posted there, including "Aegean Adventure." This will give you some good
ideas on the things you can do while awaiting the departure of your cruise
ship!

Coach tours are easily organized on short notice through your hotel
concierge or local tour operator. However, as is the case in most Mediterranean
countries, the threats posed by second-hand smoke are not yet recognized, or
dealt with. You will find few Non-Smoking coach tours.

On the other hand, the air conditioners in these coaches don't work so well
in most cases , and so you can usually create your own atmospherics by
opening the windows next to you, and breathing in the air from the streets instead.

Whether this would be better or worse for you than the pipe and cigarette smoke
available within an otherwise faintly-ventilated motorcoach is a question which we can't
answer.

Neither is going to help you very much; neither (in all respect) is likely to
hurt you very much during the course of your brief holiday either. It's Greece. That's
what you're going there to see.

We'll research the matter further for you, and if we can come up with a Non-Smoking
coach company, we'll send it on to you Email, per your request.
