In the hope of reaching some teachers.....I work for a very new not-for-profit organisation in the south of Thailand (just about to be established by my wife and I on our savings). The organisation supports the integration of tourism into sustainable development of the region. One of our programmes (the "Small Worlds" programme) has a new project which will provide opportunities for schools in Thailand and other countries around the world to exchange insights into their communities. Basically all schools in the project carry out a study of the same aspect of their community (e.g. the life of the oldest living resident in their community). These projects are sent to our organisation (NESSThai) and we distribute them to the other schools involved in the project. That way each school gets to compare lots of answers from different places. The study to be carried out will be nominated by each school in rotation.

The Small Worlds programme has the aim to provide opportunities for hosts and guests to meet in ways other than through conventional tourism. This is one way in which we hope to provide opportunities for school children in Thailand to "meet" their "guests" at home, and for school children in countries around the world to "meet" the potential "hosts" of Thailand at their homes.

If anyone would be interested in working with us on this project - teachers who think their classes could benefit from this kind of a project - please drop us an email and let us know the details of your school. The more schools we can get abroad, the more we will be able to attract in Thailand. We currently have at least two schools in Thailand willing to work with us.
